Julian A. Haffner, Esquire
Mr. Haffner was born in Miami, Florida and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He completed his undergraduate education at Swarthmore College and received his Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law where he was a Member of the Charles Hamilton Houston National Moot Court Team, as well as the Howard Scroll Social Justice Law Review. While in law school Mr. Haffner also worked with the Federal Communications Commission and the international law firm of Duane Morris.
Mr. Haffner counsels clients in the entertainment industry, focusing on
forming and advising small to mid-sized entertainment entities;
drafting and negotiating contracts related to music, television, and
film; and dealing with trademark, copyright, and other intellectual
property matters. His entertainment clients include recording artists,
composers, music producers, music publishers, record companies, and
independent film and television producers.
Mr. Haffner's business
practice concentrates primarily on advising individuals and corporate
clients in an array of business and commercial matters, including
business formation, business combinations, commercial agreements,
licensing arrangements, protection of intellectual property assets and
other general corporate matters. Mr. Haffner also counsels professional
athletes in various business dealings, and with estate planning matters. Representative business clients include media companies, medical professionals, restaurants and a host of small business concerns.
Mr. Haffner is a member of the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Sports and Entertainment Industries, the Maryland State Bar Association, where he currently serves as Chair of the Entertainment and Sports Law Section, and the Council of the Young Lawyers' Section (YLS) of the Maryland State Bar Association where formerly he served as Vice Chair of the YLS Education Committee. Mr. Haffner is also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Additionally, Mr. Haffner volunteers his time as a member of the Board of Directors for the Washington, DC based non-profit Judah Project which employs a unique three-tiered approach to ENCOURAGE, EQUIP, and EMPOWER under-served youth in the city.
